Code of Conduct

The following applies to both Employees and Clients. For the purposes of this Code of Conduct, an Employee is to represent any Consultant and a Client is to represent any High School student. An associate represents any acquaintance of the organization. GNIT represents the Grapevine Networking Internal Team.

I. General

1.    Integrity

Grapevine Networking’s reputation is one which users can trust and is something every associate of the organization must continually earn through their behavior. All forms of communication within the organization (between directors and consultants) and outside (between the organization and clients) must reflect these values.

If clients are connected with an employee, they must abide by the same conduct. The client’s behavior must be one that is trustworthy and reflective of good demeanor. Any intentional misinformation and impersonation will not be tolerated.

Any unwarranted and/or inappropriate behaviour/use of the organization and its services will lead to immediate removal of privileges and may involve law enforcement/authorities if deemed necessary.

1.1  Intellectual Property

As members of this organization you may not plagiarize, steal, and use any designs and/or content on this platform. In doing so, would be a breach of our intellectual property and will not be tolerated.

2.    Usefulness

Our interactions and advice strive to serve a purpose. The organization targets different types of employees and clients, and therefore needs to ensure that our resources are helping better their experience.

Clients and employees are responsible for making use of the available resources provided by the organization. This is a strictly professional environment. Clients and/or employees have the right to refuse any inappropriate or concerning content.

3.    Privacy, Security, and Freedom of Expression

Any exchanges of information between an employee and client must stay within the organization unless otherwise stated. There is a trust between the two parties which must be established and maintained throughout the duration of their interactions.

Any confidential/personal (i.e. name, email, etc) information provided to Grapevine networking may be used to further better the services provided by the organization. Unless stated/requested otherwise by the client/employee, all information provided to the organization or on this platform is at Grapevine Networking’s discretion.

The organization understands and encourages the Freedom of Expression of individuals. The organization supports people of all backgrounds and experiences, and strives to promote equality.

4.    Responsiveness

The organization recognizes relevant employee and client feedback. If there is an issue the Board of Directors will address it as soon as possible. We take pride in responding to questions, problems, and/or compliments.

II. Support Each Other

We are committed to a supportive environment, where associates have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. All participants are expected to do their utmost to create a culture that is free of harassment, intimidation, bias, and unlawful discrimination.

1.    Equal Opportunity (Employees)

Referral to opportunities (Co-op/internship, etc.) is based solely upon individual merit as well as qualifications directly related to professional competence. We strictly prohibit unlawful discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, pregnancy status, sex, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, mental or physical disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, or any other characteristics protected by law. We also make all reasonable accommodations to meet our obligations under laws protecting the rights of the disabled.

2.    Harassment, Discrimination, and Bullying

Grapevine Networking prohibits discrimination, harassment and bullying in any form – verbal, physical, or visual. If you believe you’ve been bullied or harassed by anyone it is important you file an incident report or contact the organization so disciplinary actions can be taken. For matters beyond the organization’s bandwidth, appropriate authorities will be involved.

3.    Relationships

Grapevine Networking deems it important to maintain professional relationships within the organization. If there is ever a conflict of interest, i.e. an employee and a client are involved outside of the organization, it is important that the client be redirected to a new employee. This to ensure that the information exchanged between an employee and client is strictly professional and is not biased due to a pre-existing or developing relationship.

III. Conclusion

Grapevine Networking is an organization run by students for students. It is not a perfect organization and has room for improvement. If there is anything any associate feels is missing from this conduct, they are advised to tell a member of GNIT.

Grapevine Networking requires all associates to abide by the Code of Conduct. If the Code of Conduct is breached, it may result in the employee or client losing their privileges. The organization hopes to offer new opportunities that may not have existed before; therefore, the organization has the right to revoke privileges at any time should an associate prove to be difficult.
